YMCA Taunton is a local, independent charity supporting young people and the wider community through affordable sports, wellbeing programmes, youth engagement activities, and personal development opportunities. We work with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, with a particular focus on helping people build confidence, stay active, and feel connected. Every penny we raise stays in Taunton and goes directly back into delivering our work.
We’re excited to share that the refurbishment of YMCA Taunton is nearly complete, and one of the most exciting additions is our brand-new indoor climbing hall – the only publicly available facility of its kind in Taunton.
Climbing offers enormous physical and mental wellbeing benefits for young people and the wider community. It promotes fitness, confidence, resilience, and social connection – and we can’t wait to open the space to all.
To make it safe and accessible for everyone, we need to install auto belays – specialist devices that allow people to climb independently. We had hoped to install 15 auto belays, but we’ve only secured funding for six so far. Our brilliant builder, Wrencon Ltd, has already sponsored one, and we’re now reaching out to local businesses to help us reach our target.

Sponsorship is £3,300, and in return you’ll receive:
- Your business name on signage in the climbing hall
- A certificate of sponsorship for your premises
- Recognition on our website and social media
- An invitation to our climbing hall launch events
- A free team-building session for your staff in the new climbing hall
Although we carry the YMCA name, we don’t receive any central funding from YMCA England & Wales – we raise every penny ourselves, and all of it stays here in Taunton.
