On Saturday 13 September, YMCA Taunton was buzzing with energy as 28 volunteers came together for a “Spruce Up” day, transforming the centre through painting, DIY, cleaning, and gardening.

The event ran from 9am to 12pm and brought together a diverse group of people—some familiar faces including trustees and preschool parents, and others new to the area who had never visited the centre before. Several YMCA staff members also generously gave up their time to join in, demonstrating their commitment to the centre and its community.
Volunteer Kim shared, “It was fun meeting everyone and the young volunteers did amazing.” One of our young carers added, “It was a great morning.”

Clare Langley, CEO of YMCA Taunton, said:
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who gave up their Saturday morning to support us. The centre is here for the whole community, and seeing people come together—whether they’ve known us for years or just discovered us—was truly heartwarming. This kind of spirit is what makes YMCA Taunton so special.”
YMCA Taunton extends a heartfelt thanks to all who took part and welcomes anyone interested in volunteering at future events to get in touch. The refreshed centre will continue to host a range of activities and services for all ages, and the team looks forward to welcoming even more local residents to our centre.
