We were delighted to be part of Taunton Together 2025 on 27 September 2025 for an uplifting, free celebration of arts, culture, diversity, and community spirit.
At YMCA Taunton, we were thrilled to take part, meet our community, and share in the energy of the day.
What Was Taunton Together?

Organised by Taunton Town Council in collaboration with local cultural partners, Taunton Together was an end-of-summer festival running from 10:00am to 4:00pm. The event celebrated the rich diversity of Taunton – bringing together artists, musicians, community groups, local businesses, and people from all walks of life.
Stalls lined the town and live performances drew crowds. Thousands of people turned out to enjoy the sunshine, entertainment and food.

Taunton Together was a wonderful opportunity to:
- Connect face-to-face: We chatted with many current and new community members, answering questions about our programmes and services.
- Showcase what we do: As a local charity serving our community, we shared information about our youth clubs, community pantry, workshops and our recent YIF work.
Although we host many events ourselves, participating in large festivals like Taunton Together helps us reach beyond our regular audiences, discover new opportunities, and build partnerships for future collaboration.

Our Stall
Our pitch included the following free activities
- Pull up challenge
- Grip Test Challenge
- Balance Challenge
- Creative tile workshop
We also ran a competition on the day to win a group climbing session in our new climbing hall when it opens. The randomly picked winner was: Kaire Kandjiriomuini and the draw can be seen on our FB page.
What We Learned
Participating in Taunton Together 2025 reaffirmed several things we know – and gave us fresh ideas going forward:
- Visibility matters
Being visible in public spaces helps us connect with people who might not yet know about the YMCA and the services we provide. - Partnerships are powerful
Collaborating with cultural and local organisations enriches what we can achieve together. - People want to engage
Whether through conversations or interactive elements, festivalgoers were keen to get involved, learn, and support. - Future ambition
We hope to take part in more such events, expand our visibility, and co-design activities that align with Taunton’s cultural calendar.
