Temporary buildings moved from the car park and office staff can finally move back inside the building after a year of working in a shipping container!
Plastering and painting continues.

Carpet removed from rear hallway and new flooring installed on both lower floors, stairs, and upper floor.
Our wonderful new signage has been installed on both ends of the building. Thank you Signs Express – it looks great.
New lights in reception installed.
Clare, our CEO, now has the shell of an office for the first time in 9 years!
Our versatile folding doors in our new multi-use space have been installed.

Roof work continues. Internal ceilings plastered. Kitchen fitted. External tiles removed.

Internal walls going up and plastered, new windows installed. 3D mapping of climbing hall. Work on roof starts. External cladding work starts.

The ‘Tin Hat’ protective overoof has been removed. Some of the scaffolding has been taken down.
February 2025
Flooring being laid in new extension area.

Roof trusses are being installed on the 1st floor extension.
December 2024
Floor joists are being installed in our new multi-use area on the 1st floor.
November 2024
The front elevation roof has been removed. The new climbing room is being built.
October 2024
The scaffolding now surrounds the building and we have a “Tin Hat” to protect the building while the new roof is put in.
11-13 September 2024
With the exception of the Astroturf pitch, the centre is closed.
9 August 2024
The centre is now closed to the public until 3 September. No staff will be on site and the car park is closed.
w/c 29 July 2024
Contractors are now on site and work has commenced. Car parking on site is greatly reduced as temporary buildings and work vehicles are in the car park. Fencing has been erected around the front of the building to keep our visitors safe.
19 July 2024 – Start Dates Confirmed
Building work will start on Monday 29 July. The centre will be closed 9 August-3 September for essential work.
July 2024 – Tender Awarded
We are delighted to announce that the successful bid to work on the YIF Project has been awarded to Wrencon Ltd, a local building company who we have worked with in the past. Work is due to start later this month.
June 2024 – Tender Process
The tender process for the YIF Transformation project is near completion and we will soon be able to announce who the contract has been awarded to.
February 2024 – YIF Funding announced
A press release announced that YMCA Taunton has received a £2.1M grant.
