As we celebrate Volunteers’ Week 2025, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who gives their time and energy to YMCA Taunton.
Over the past year (2023–24), our volunteers have contributed an incredible 1,345 hours. Their support has helped us run events, cook meals, fundraise for vital services, keep our spaces safe and welcoming, and tell the stories that matter.
We’re proud to share that our number of volunteers increased by 77% last year – a reflection of the amazing community spirit we’re lucky to have around us.

Our volunteers take on a wide variety of roles, including:
- IT adviser
- Photographer and videographer
- Event assistants
- Delivery driver
- Maintenance and gardening
- Cleaning
- Kitchen helpers
- Judo coaches
- Volunteer fundraisers (including sponsored runs and challenges)
- And our dedicated team of Trustees
We also want to recognise our staff, who regularly give their time to volunteer at events outside of their day jobs. Their commitment and passion help bring our projects to life and support even more people.

“Our volunteers bring so much more than their time – they bring energy, skills, kindness and belief in our mission. YMCA Taunton simply couldn’t do what we do without them. I’m incredibly proud of the community we’re building together.”
– Clare Langley, CEO, YMCA Taunton
Together, these volunteers make a real and lasting difference to our ability to support young people and the wider community. Whether you’re behind the scenes or front and centre, your time and effort are truly appreciated.
If you’re inspired to get involved, we’d love to hear from you. You can sign up to volunteer through Spark a Change.
Thank you – from all of us at YMCA Taunton.
