On Saturday 13th December, we welcomed over 100 visitors to our Twilight Festive Fayre – and what a magical afternoon it was!
Our visitors enjoyed free refreshments, delicious homemade cakes, and a variety of craft activities, including painting keepsake tiles and creating adorable snowmen. Our LEGO workshop was a big hit, keeping little hands busy while families waited to meet Father Christmas.
The atmosphere was full of excitement and festive cheer and we were thrilled to see so many happy winners on our tombola, and in keeping with the times the winning numbers were 6 or 7 which amused our young guests!

Our “Take & Make” bags were popular and included one for crafts, one for gingerbread and one for a pasta dinner. The idea of the bags is that it has everything you need to create something wonderful which can be made for yourself or given away as a gift, and all the bags came with festive tags ready to gift.
We also had a “Wishing Tree” for people to write their wishes down on a tag and hang it on the tree.

Special Moments with Father Christmas
Father Christmas met 40 wonderful children, and each visit was truly memorable. The big man had lovely chats with all of the children in his cosy grotto, helped by his snowman helper.
- He was impressed by J’s knowledge of the gravitational pull of the moon and sun and how constellations help with navigation!
- He encouraged L to keep trying to sleep in her own bed.
- He congratulated E on eating his school dinners.
- He admired O’s cool dance moves.
- He loved A’s fantastic T-Rex impression
What Parents Said
We wanted to provide an engaging encounter for our youngest visitors, which is why Santa’s Elves sent a short form to parents before the event so we could provide a personalised visit. Feedback about our grotto was heartwarming:
- “Elsewhere you have to pay £20pp for a Santa visit and that’s not affordable”
- “Santa was amazing – both children said he was lovely and looked fantastic”
- “Santa was fantastic and interacted so lovely with both children. A memory to hold close”

Other feedback included:
- “The kids loved winning on the tombola and finding the lucky numbers!”
- “The crafts were brilliant – we’ve come home with bags of activities.”
- “The LEGO was great fun while we waited for Santa.”
- “We’ve all had a really lovely afternoon thank you. Everything was free.”
- “Amazing afternoon, thank you so much.”

“This event truly captured the spirit of our community – warm, welcoming, and full of joy. Seeing families come together, children laughing, and everyone enjoying the activities reminds us why these moments matter. Thank you to everyone who supported us and helped make this day so special.”

Thank you
Parents described the event as calm, relaxing, and very special, with only a small cost but a big impact.
We would not have been able to provide so much for free if it wasn’t for the generous support of Somerset Community Foundation Festive Fund Grant – a heartfelt thank you.
Thanks to our visitors generosity, we raised over £400 for our crowdfunder – helping us continue to make a difference in our community.
We also would not be able to hold events such as this without the support of our staff who generously gave up their own time, plus our volunteers who once again helped enormously.
Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, and supported us. You made this Christmas Fayre truly magical!
If you attended the event – please give us your feedback.
