For all young people to enjoy our youth activities, there must be certain ground rules that must always be followed. These include participants refraining from any behaviour that places a young person, member of staff or member of the public at risk (including the misuse of drugs or alcohol).
Parents/carers must complete the Young Persons Permission Form.
Young People must agree to the Code of Conduct and Rules.
All young people will be required to sign a copy of our code of conduct as a commitment to maintaining our boundaries.
- Respect: Treat everyone, including staff and visitors, with courtesy and respect, respecting personal boundaries and differences
- Positive Attitude: Participate actively with a positive attitude towards the youth activities
- Fair Play: Adhere to the rules and spirit of all activities, promoting fair play and sportsmanship
- Safety First: Always follow instructions from staff and safety guidelines
- Responsibility: Take ownership of actions and be accountable for behaviour.
Specific Expectations
- Attendance and Punctuality: Arrive on time
- Communication: Inform staff of any concerns or issues
- Appropriate Language and Behaviour: Do not use offensive language, bullying, harassment, or discriminatory behaviour towards others
- Dress Code: Follow the YMCA’s dress code guidelines when participating in activities
- Personal Belongings: Take care of belongings and respect the property of others
During YMCA Activities
- Active Participation: Engage in activities and follow instructions from staff
- Teamwork: Join in with other members to achieve shared goals and support teammates
- Positive Feedback: Be positive and respectful
- Conflict Resolution: Discuss disagreements peacefully and report any serious conflicts to staff
Online Conduct
- Digital Responsibility: Represent the YMCA positively online, including social media
- Privacy: Protect personal information and respect the privacy of others
- Cyberbullying Prevention: Do not engage in cyberbullying or harmful online behaviour.
Reporting Concerns
- Concerns to Staff: Report any concerns regarding safety, behaviour or misconduct to a staff member immediately
- Confidentiality: Staff will handle all reports with confidentiality and appropriate action. Sometimes information may be shared or acted upon to keep a young person safe
Consequences
- Verbal Warning: Staff may issue a verbal warning for minor issues
- Temporary Suspension: Repeated misconduct may result in a temporary suspension from YMCA activities
- Exclusion: Serious breaches of the code of conduct may lead to being permanently excluded from the YMCA
By participating in YMCA Taunton activities, the young person agrees to abide by this Code of Conduct
